Tillerman Tea features both loose-leaf and tea sachets. By reservation, customers can book a private tea tasting and education program with ceremonial aspects provided by Wong. Tillerman Tea offers a wide selection of rare loose-leafed teas in addition to a special "house flight" of five teas:  green, oolong, black, jasmine and pu-erh. They also have a fine selection of traditional teapots, cups, infusers and tea making paraphernalia.

Tea Talks

Tea Appreciation
Green Tea, Oolong Tea, Black Tea, Puerh Tea, and Scented teas – Let us help you better understand the five major categories of tea. What are their differences, how are they produced, and how can you make a wonderful cup of tea? Through brewing and tasting, we will answer all these questions and any other ones you might have about tea. You will also get a hands-on experience about what type of tea ware best suits your brewing needs at home and at work. Let us show you the many wonders of tea!
$20 per person includes:

  • 5 House Teas

  • Infuser mug brewing
  • Sachet brewing

Chinese Tea Ceremony Presentation
The Chinese tea ceremony is not as formal as it sounds! For the Chinese, the tea ceremony challenges how well you can brew tea; it can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. In this presentation we will show you the traditional tea ware used, demonstrate formal Gaiwan service, Gongfu tea (tea prepared using special clay ware from Yixing - pronounced “yee-shing”), and Tea Farmer service. Each one of these has cultural significance that will allow us to share the 5,000 years of culture in China through one of its favorite beverages . . . Tea!
$30 per person includes:

  • 5 House Teas plus one Specialty Tea
  • Basic Tea History and Chinese Tea Culture

  • Chaozhou style Gongfu Tea
  • Formal Yixing Gongfu Tea

Seasonal Tea Tasting
Tea is seasonally harvested as certain teas are best during specific seasons. Come taste the best of each season with us as the teas arrive. This tasting is designed to showcase the unique seasonal quality of tea. Why are the best green teas only harvested in the spring but oolongs are just as good harvested during the fall? Let us show you while you taste the harvest with us!
$40 per person includes:

  • 4 – 6 of the season’s best tea harvest
  • Basic Tea history and agriculture
  • Gaiwan brewing
  • Gongfu service
  • Basic Brewing techniques

Design Your Own Tea Tasting
Do you have questions about tea? Why are there hundreds of varieties of Green tea? Why are they called Oolong or Puerh teas? Select from the many aspects of tea and we can help you design a personalized tasting experience. This option will let you work with our Director of Tea Culture and Education to create a tasting that will best answer your questions and needs. Please arrange with us at least two weeks in advance for tasting program and price.

For all other Tea Talks, please place your reservation at least one week in advance

4 person maximum due to limited space in our tea shop Weather permitting, we can accommodate larger parties outdoors.
